mckenzie project I
When your client has a taste for the finer things in life, it becomes my responsibility to deliver the opulence that they deserve.
Recently moving into this already beautiful semi rural property, the clients wanted to make a few changes to elevate the interior to match the gorgeous surroundings that wrap around this home. Having worked with these clients at their previous property, I was well aware of the taste and style that attracts them.
The original, well sized ensuite was modelled to look "old". I'm not exactly sure what period they were aiming for, but it was poorly executed and not the ideal use of the generous space.
It consisted of an elevated shower in cream and burgundy, with cherub motifs in between the dual shower heads that were fixed very low.
There was a beige toilet on a diagonal wall in the corner and a bulky orange pine vanity with brass tap ware.
As this property has such beautiful surrounds, I wanted to utilise the stunning sash windows as part of the focal point of the room. By positioning the Claw Foot Tub on an angle in front of the windows, the clients will be able to enjoy their lush greenery while they relax after a long day tending to their 5 acres of landscaped gardens.
I wanted to create romance as well as luxury so that their ensuite was their own little escape from busy family life and that the style of this room was quite separate from the main bathroom design.
Two of the ensuite walls have been wrapped in Carrara Marble in a lantern mosaic, the floor tiles are an Australian made, painted patten however both are a nod to the Lady of the House's European heritage. The style had to be a complimentary mix of modern and traditional. Traditional tap ware, lighting and finishes & modern vanity, in-wall cistern toilet and shower screen.
The overall look seamlessly blends the two to give the feeling of European modern luxury.
